Dr. Annika Silfvast-Kaiser was born in Houston, Texas and grew up both in Houston and abroad in Finland. She is bilingual – fluent in English and Swedish. She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Texas in Austin. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she worked as the lead medical assistant for 2 years at a private dermatology practice in Houston, Texas. She then attended medical school at Texas A&M College of Medicine and completed her post-graduate Preliminary Year training in Internal Medicine at Baylor Scott & White Healthcare in Temple, Texas.
Dr. Silfvast-Kaiser is interested in pursuing a career in dermatology and has a strong interest in psoriasis, eczema, and other chronic diseases of the skin. She also has a passion for skin cancer prevention. She is delighted to commence her career in dermatology with a two-year clinical research fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center under the mentorship of Dr. Alan Menter. She serves as the sub-investigator for numerous clinical trials at the Menter Dermatology Research Institute. She is also actively involved in writing dermatologic manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
